installer script

I am very new to linux, so please in detail. I downloaded the source and bin for my printer I extracted the files now I have to run the installer script. How do you run the installer script. Mandrake 7.0. :confused:

what is the filname you downloaded. Does it end it tar.gz, .rpm, etc. If its a tarball and you have already extracted, the instructions should say that you need to run a certain file (I.E. ./install.sh). Let us know what the app is that you downloaded.
