Have any of you attempted to install Mandrake v9.0 on a machine with an Intel 300MHz CPU, with 128Kram?

Have any of you attempted to install Mandrake v9.0 on a machine with an Intel 233MHz CPU with 64Kram?

Are any of you aware if the "Open Office" from KDE will work with Mandrake V7.0?

I've tried installation on both of the above noted machines with intermittent or zero success.

Any and all reasonable tips and suggestions would be appreciated as I suspect that the office software which comes with Mandrake v9.0 is first rate and I'd sure like to use it with one or both of the above hardwares.

What are the minimal cpu/memory requirements for Mandrake 9.0?

What exactly are intermittent or zero success? Won't install? Won't boot?

Can you add another 128mb to the 300?

Mr. Watts;

re. "... intermittend to zero success" with loading Mandrake v9.0:

.1. Actually had it up and running on both the desktop and the laptop (Dell Latitude CPi) however the software proved to be "buggy" to the point it was removed, but while up and running I got a good look at the office software which came with Mandrake v9.0, and from what I could see of it, the office software is first rate.

.2. There were failures of Mandrake v9.0 with regard to:

.a. Failue to operate the Wheel Mouse
.b. Failure to recognize MS/Windows 98 sector of the hard drive
.c. Failure to reboot to MS/Windows after exiting Linux
.d. Failure to configure the sound "card" on the laptop.
.e. Failure to configure the sound card on the desktop.

There were other failures but at the moment these stand out in my mind.

The ease with which Mandrake v7.0 went onto the desktop and the laptop were surprising to say the least but Mandrake v9.0, as good as the ancilliary software seems to be, overall experience here is showing that Mandrake v9.0 is "buggy." For a commericial operation, a lot more work should have been done prior to releasing this Mandrake version of Linux. Could give Linux an overall bad name.

I have Mdk 9.0 on two laptops at home.

On mine, its a PII-333 with 192 Megs of Ram.
It runs beautifully...with the usual minor issues that I'm slowly fixing.

On my gf's its a thinkpad, 400, with 128 megs of RAM, it also runs quite well except for a major problem with bootloaders (I have a thread on that around somewhere) which is still unresolved (as a workaround I installed BootMagic, which works...sort of).
