Linux Folder Ftp Permissions

Hello,

What permissions should be set on my system directories so that when others ftp to there directory they can not browse others folders.
For example If John ftp's to his folder in my home directory he should not be able to view content of my etc or var or any other system folder.
So what should all my system folder permissions be?
