i have tried all newer distro's of linux with my trident blade 3d video card and only redhat's have installed flawlessly. I have not been able to get Mandrake X-Server to give me a screen. The closest i got in Mandrake was a nice screen but halfway accross the screen it starts doubling. Any answers here...I really believe i would prefer Mandrake...Even Corel gave me some grief..... http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif

I had the same problem. I used the generic SVGA server, and plan on downloading and installing Xfree86 4.0.2. Howeve,r under Debian in Xfree86 3.3.6, I had no problems at all.
Hope this helps.

Debian also installed fine for me (Xfree86 4.0.2).
If I recall, you can download xserver-svga from their (www.tridentmicro.com) website.
That worked when I was running slack a year ago.

The card works ok with 3.3.6 but when I tried it with 4.0.1 it shat itself.
There is an option you need to use, I think it something like:
noaccel
It's on the xfree86 web site in the documentation somewhere. The card will work but it runs like ****.
Do what I did: buy another cheap card.
