People need a nice stable Operating System for networking purposes of any type, and this exists, linux of course. What else should the world need?
People need a nice stable Operating System for Desktop and Multimedia purposes and this doesn't exist. We should

As I said, we should create a new stable X-Kernel with build in support of X. Pressing Alt-F1 a console should pop up.
Boots up with X, that means.
Come on Linus, show the world what you can do, release the X-Kernel 1.01.
Hit the MS dominar where it hurts, THE DESKTOP.
Parallel release of Kernel and X-Kernel, will put Linux where it belongs, the top of course.
Come on, spread the word. People need it.

You have available the kernel source and X source, so go for it.
Just let us know where to download when your ready with the first release. :D
Uhh, this exists. It's called XDM.

If it exists IT NEEDS SUPPORT. Linus has to do it.

Logon Name Gone, or whatever your name is or gone..
Lie there on your chair, enjoy what you run, a kernel 2.4.x I suppose..
And think..
did you created it?
Nooooo...
did I created it?
Nooooo...
Someone else did.
Why...
Because people asked for it.
So..
Think.

heh.
There are 2 things. With Xfree86 version 4 your graphics cards drivers ARE a part of the kernel.
Not all cards are supported like this.
The other issue is that people don't seem to like boot messages. Some distros compile their own kernel that puts a nice graphic there instead of boot messages. Use theirs if you want.

Do you even have a clue as to what you're talking about?

Huh? Explain what Linus has to do with X.

Yes thank-you, I will just sit here and enjoy what I have and use.
If you want something better, then damn well do it yourself. Why expect others to do it for you?

Why is this raving? I meant no hate for Kernel, I only expressed the need of X-Kernel.
If you think things should remain the same, you have the right to do it, and I agree.
Linux should stay the same.
X-Linux Will be the AntiMicrosoft-Linux or, the plain simple replacement of their domination.
For you tecs, what I mean is:
Proper generic vga support that everone will be able to start on desktop environment. LIVE Configurator of X-Kernel for EVERY X-Linux installation and some preconfigured options for known machines.
People choosing X-Linux will be the ones that will download precompiled versions of open source software. I think this would saparate the Linux community into two parts, the "Tecs" and the "Normal Users".
Now, what about this.

Linus is a very easy person to contact and very receptive to new ideas. Give it a shot.

Again, all these things exist as of right now. If you wish, install Mandrake or SuSE both of which lean more towards the 'desktop user' and both of which start up in X right from the install onward. Download pre-compiled versions of open-source software? I do this on a daily basis.

Yeah, and while he's at it, maybe he should contact Ford Motors and ask them about designing some sort of 'horseless carriage'....

I wouldn't mind one of the horseless carriages that run on the new X-Kernel.

Actually, you don't even have to configure X anymore these days. On Slackware I just enable framebuffer and boom. X support right away. No more xf86config. Framebuffer support is included in kernels 2.2 and higher.

You know, you can edit the Window's registry so that instead of seeing that flashy, colorful window at startup, it gives you boot messages. Just so you know... ;)

Locking this for two reasons:
a) it's not really a question
b) no one (unless I'm mistaken) that can do anything about this is reading this anyway
