Still wrestlng with configuring network card in new computer. Seems to work fine for 5min, using KDE 3.0 and Konqueror web browser (java enabled) cookies enabled. While viewing web page, usually text pages, browser/OS locks hard, power switch is only way Ive found to kill it. Question: Can bad network card cause this? ANybody ever HEARD of such? sometimes just using the scroll bar reading down a page and IT LOCKS TITE!. Using windows host machine, network disconnected to my slckware box till I figure this out. thanks for any clues anyone may have

Out of curiosity why do you suspect a bad network card?
Which kde3.0.x version are you running, on which Slackware and with what kernel?

What if anything is in /var/log/* that indicates a problem after you reboot?

Do you have the same lockups if you use another browser such as Netscape or Mozilla?
Try those to at least rule out a problem with either Konqueror or your network card/connection.

Hey I may be onto something here, w/moderators suggestions and tip about the log files.....running slackware 8.1 stock, and also have mandrake 8.2 download vers....kde2.2.2,konqeror2.2.2, mozilla .0.9.8---- doesnt matter which browser imusing tho konq works longer/better. Going to konqueror website last nite-locked it up also tho. var/log in mandrake says my card (old intel corp ethernet pro100 has 'reciever lockup bug exists-enabling work around' >SO, it is a known problem. I'll pickup a new card today and see if I can fix the lockup prob. Thanks for your help, might not've found this on my own for a while . Tony
