I'm trying to install "libgcj-devel-2.96-22.i386.rpm" on a 2.2.14 system. I get the following error "only packages with major numbers <= 3 are supported by this version of RPM".

How do I get past this? I need to get this RPM installed on my system.

Just in case you still wanted to know.

You need to upgrade rpm to version 4 I believe which also involves updating the rpm database to a later version.

I have seen the procedures posted here in the past.
