Ok....I finally decided to upgrade my PC, unfortunately i couldn't buy the soyo motherboard combo, which is compatable w/ linux at fry's 'cuz i went there too late...(Sold Out, I didn't know they carry a limited amount of products... damn...)
After waiting for 3 weeks, they haven't posted the Soyo motherboard combo on the ad... So far i'm seeing those cheap ECS motherboard combos....
Any Suggestions for motherboards?(Athlon xp motherboard plz, dont like intel) Which motherboard is the best for the RedHat 8? and Also Should i get ATI Radeon 9000 pro 128mb or GeForce 4 Ti4200 128mb? Which one do you guys recommend?

I myself recently bought a Asus A7S333 and have been quite happy with it. Even the onboard sound isn't bad at all. Some people aren't too fond of the SiS chipset, but I have found it to be quite a nice board.

In regards to the video cards, I recently also purchased both of these cards. I must say, I really like the ATI 9000 pro 128 meg card. I don't think you can go wrong with either card, although people say the Ti is a bit faster. But if I were you, I would stay away from the "Asylum" 128 meg GeForce 4. Don't know if that is what you are considering, but I found this card to be a bit buggy.

Thanx, yeah.. i was considering that asylum geforce, becuase they r having huge rebates at the best buy...
it was still 20 bucks more expensive than ati.... just hoping that ATI would also give rebates on radeon 9000 pro...
i was wondering if the integrated on board sound card is compatible w/ linux?

radeon's a great card...but I thought the Linux support for ATI was still pretty crappy. Has this changed recently, by any chance?

I spent a bit more and got less faster CPU.... but better motherboard
Athlon XP 2000+ and Soyo KT-333 Dragon Ultra Platinum Ed., ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 1280mb, and 512 PC2100 DDR Ram...
So far works really well... I'm using RedHat 8... so far ATI works fine, haven't installed the newest driver yet so dont know about supporting opengl yet... hope it will work well...
man i love my pc...

They have never let me down! I would rather have the AMD chipsets over VIA, though.
