Kernel compiling error ??

Hi i got a big prob.... when i run "make bzImage" ,after a few lines i get
"make: *** [init/main.o] Error 1"
I are running mandrake 7.2

plz help or i'll go crazy !!! :confused:

Hmm..Not much to go on here.

I am assuming of course that you've gone through the whole sequence from make mrproper to make before doing a make bzImage.

Have you checked that you've got the versions of make,gcc etc.. required for your particular kernel version. They're all listed in

..../linux/Documentation/Changes

along with ways to check the versions.

If it's not one of these things then please post again with more specific information. There's not much information to go on!

What version of the kernel are you compiling (I'm assuming its 2.4x)? What steps did you take before doing the 'make bzImage'? (As an aside I usually do a make install after make and that works fine for me!)
