I put together a PC from some older parts to mess around with Linux. I installed win98se on a 1.5 GB Partition, then proceeded to install Mandrake on the remaining 4.9 Gigs. I didn't make a boot disk, and when the PC is booted, there is no OS selection choice, just straight to windows. I know next to nothing about lilo and other boot loaders, can someone help me out on this one? thanks

Ok I am assuming you are installing Mandrake 7.2
Now here are my questions to you:
* What type of installation did you choose? i.e novice, expert etc.
* Did it ask you to select the disk where the boot loader would go? i.e Where to put lilo/grub (These are the two boot loaders that come with Mandrake 7.2)
I think you will find that it is ALWAYS good to have a boot disk made during installation. If that was your only hitch then you are doing very well.
Good luck.

I did an expert install (no laughing please)
I really don't remember being asked where to put the boot loader.
Well, I just got Loadlin to work. Thanks for the help anyway!
