Ok.
1) It seems that every version of linux that I own has some kind of problem with my 3d card; Geforce 2 MX.
Every time I install Linux in either Corel or SuSE, I get a mangled display. any ideas?
2) In red hat 7.1, I install Linux no problems, but when it's installed, I get an error saying something along the lines of 'no screens'. Sorry I know its a bit vague but i'm a Linux newbie with a short attention span :D
3) I downloaded Mandrake ( whichever the latest version is) as an ISO, burnt it to CD(s) and popped the CD in the drive to boot to but neither CD would boot. I can boot to my other linux discs so i know My disc drive isnt faulty.
I looked in the CD at a file which says if you cant boot to the CD then make a boot floppy with the CD.img file in the folder. How on earth do I do that?
Any help would be VERY welcome. Thanks.

Cannot remember the exact syntax for the 'rawrite' utility.

There's always a readme text file in the directory that contains the .img file.

Read the install.htm file. It will have the steps necessary to create a boot floppy.
insert the CDROM, then open the icon "My Computer", right click on the CDROM drive icon and select "Open"
go into the "dosutils" directory and double-click on the "rawwritewin" icon
insert a blank floppy in the floppy drive
select "D:\images\cdrom.img" in the "Image File" field (assuming that your CDROM drive is "D:", otherwise replace "D:" as needed)
select "A:" in the "Floppy Drive" field then click on "Write".

Repeated for your pleasure.

mandrake worked fine for my gf2 mx, so if you can install it, try.

I just installed suse7.1. I have a Geforce2 MX (hercules) and the install went fine. It took about 1/2 hour and I installed q3 in that time too. Get the Nvidia drivers for SuSE 7.1 and use k package to do the install of the rpms and make sure you replace the libgl.so file with the nvidia one.

Evil3d has good nfo on the nvidia setup.

Sorry that was supposed to be info. Evil3d (http://www.evil3d.net/articles.shtml)has a bunch of articles on Nvidia and Linux. Also there is a script out there that will help you see if you have it setup right. I have it at home but not at work I will post the script a little later this evening.
