hey guys, im one of the many who decided to make the switch from winblows to linux and so i installed slack 8.1 the other day. later, i realized that i didnt have a video player and so i installed mplayer. mpeg, avis and movs work perfectly except when i try watching quicktime files online. (i installed the plugin for mozilla.) i can stream the wma files fine and i can play mov files off the computer. but when i tried watching trailers from the apple site, it wouldnt work. any takers? also, which email client would you guys suggest for x? thanks a bunch

Where / how did you install the plugin for Mozilla? There are a few places where Mozilla looks for plugins, you just have to find the "right" one sometimes.
Mozilla's mail client is pretty good, as is Evolution (a full PIM package) and Kmail. Personally I use Pine.

i installed the plugin in mozillas plugin directory. it shows up on the about plugin page too. and it sez there that quicktime is enabled. another question, does the brower play the mov as it is being downloaded or do you have to wait till the entire mov file gets downloaded? thanks a bunch guys

mwahaha!! i fixed it! i had a feeling it was because i started the mplayer with the gui...i went to my config file and set it to start up without the gui and now it works like a charm. awesome. damn i like linux :D
