You can use xmms with the xmms-smpeg plugin. They may be installed by default, I'm not sure on RedHat. If not check your installation CD's. I don't know much about using it but if you look in /usr/share/doc you should be able to find documentation on both once you install them. .

I think mplayer is good but the ultimate movie player for linux has got to be Xine (http://xinehq.de/)

i disagree, sortof

install Xine and mplayer

all your video needs.......

mplayer is good for playing video formats, xine is good for it's gui interface

install mplayer and then install the brower plugin from http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net , you'll be able to play streaming video on ur browser.

I downloaded the mplayer-gui and the mplayer default skin package but am unable to install. When installing the default-skin I get an error message that tells me I can't complete the install because the installer can't find the default-skin. The same error message when attempting to install the mplayer-gui rpm.
So, I installed mplayer-common, where do I find mplayer to run it. I tried Run-Program and the message said unable to locate mplayer.
