success install but wont get into linux

Already 3 times install mandrake 7.1 on windows 98SE, but cannot get into linux after success installation.

what I did is:
1. delete all partition
2. make 2gb primary partition
3. install win98 on primary partition
4. install Mandrake from windows
5. success install, booting...
and go into win98 again.

already check partition and saw non-dos partition, I also had tried to run batch file named Harddisk.bat in Mandrake dir and ends with Question about Select Partition with 3 options (/dev/hda1,5 and 7) that not works.

is the first fdisk I did to delete all partition really cleanup? because before doing this I had system commander in it.

well.. at least you have 1 out of 2 OS working :p

So what are you using now as your boot loader? System commander or Grub or LILO?

Try booting up with your linux boot floppy ( I hope you did make one!!) to get into linux. If you are using LILO, you can then take a look at your lilo.conf and troubleshoot from there. Not sure about grub though... maybe someone else can help?

You might want to take a look at the NHF on OS Booting, that's where I learnt how to get my dual boot going.

If you perfer to use the win boot loader you can also search the site for a NHF on loadlin or even a web search for it. I'm sorry I can't get you much more than that but I have never used it!

Did you install LILO in MBR?

not sure about this, but it might have something to do with installing from windows. I always installed with a boot floppy and it worked beautifully. And make sure you install to the MBR...you can do it to /boot as well, but the MBR is what will be booted.
