My Kernel and I are not getting along.... What to do

OK, this is going to be I think my 5th post about my kernel. I am upgrading to 2.4.2. I have read all the nhf's here, along with stuff on other sites. I follow the steps, I've read the Changes file and everything is upto date, except for ppp, but that shouldn't cause my problem.

I do make menuconfig and save the config file. Then when I go to make modules, it does a lot of nothing to be done for modules.

I thought maybe it would be alright, but then it exits with Error1, or Error2.

I am obviously not at my machine right now, and I should have written down exactly what it said, but I let my frustration get to me.

I can't seem to get past the modules part of the kernel update. If anyone has any advice for me, I would appreciate it. I"m beginning to think I should just include everything in the kernel...

Why don't you upgrade ppp and give it a shot. It may very well be the problem, especially if you plan on connecting to the internet or a network. There is a reason that the change file is there.
