Ok...I have my webserver setup. All I need to do next is get my domain. That is easy enough.
The problem is getting a dedicated connection
for my web server. I am just doing it as a hobby and looking for a cheap way of doing it.
My ISP wants to charge me $150 a month to do it. I can't afford that.
Can anyone give me suggestion on what to do?
Thanks

shop around, find a better deal. get cable if it's cheap enough (lucky $^&@ in the US hehe). For hosting your own webserver if you're trying to serve what the public wants you're going to need more than a modem anyway, because a modem connection will only be acceptable for 1 or 2 people viewing your page at the same time, otherwise it'll take too long for them to download and they'll go elsewhere.

ADSL is the best solution for cheap web hosting. You can get software to route people to your server even if you have dynamic IP's. I've got this setup now, and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the help. I work with a guy who has his using ADSL. He said it works great.
My problem now is that my area doesn't support cable or ADSL yet. So it will be a few months before I will be up and running.
