Since installing TrueType fonts can be annoying sometimes, I've written a script that does the dirty work. I've only tested it on my Red Hat 7.3 machine, so use it at your own risk.
Rename the attached file to ttffontinstall, chmod 700, chown root, and enjoy. Note: It must be run as root.

Just for fun, thought I'd mention that GNOME2 font install is a matter of drag and drop :)

Thanks. I've never used GNOME 2. I haven't gotten around to upgrading, and I'm not sure I want to since they've dropped some of my favorite features.
I hear that Mandrake also has some kind of tool for installing TrueType fonts.

I think Gentoo installs them automatically too, at least they were downloaded as part of the source for X during the xfree emerge. I haven't configured X yet, so I can't tell you for sure.

KDE 3.X also has an installer, but your effort should pay off in those situations where a native app isn't applicable.
