configuring the panel for KDE 3

Does anyone know how to remove the little black arrows that are all over the panel? They look crummy and they are pointless.

I don't know if it was there before I upgraded to KDE 3.1, but last night I found you can "hide applet handels."

Right click on panel.

Configure Panel>Appearance>Advanced options....

The arrows next to the applets dissapear until you mouse-over one.

I guess it must be only in 3.1. There isn't even an "appearance" tab in the Panel preferences window and none of the tabs have an "advanced options" button. SuSE only offers up to version 3.0.4, so I'll have to wait.
