Hello there,

Umm problems here,
I've just changed the processor in my linux box from a cyric266, to a pentium 266 MMX, not my system won't boot. It hangs just after the 'Uncompressing Linux...' message.

Any idea ?

Cheers for any help

It's not kernal but kernel :D

You need to recompile the kernel to include your support for your new cpu...it would be good idea to do it before swapping cpu's.Hope this helps.

hello,

Do you have a bootdisk ?
I hope so. You can enter your box with bootdisk and then fix by recompiling the KERNEL. But if you just see uncompressing linux... but the cpu still working, may be you can wait bacause i've encountered a wrong kernel recompiling by lacking some option so i could not see the boot message.
