i spent countless hours with help here and there to get both my cdroms recognized in xcdroast only to see it wont do cd to cd copies. just creates an image and then burns it. duh. will any burning software do that for me???
like gcombust or gnome toaster??? xcdroast it the easiest to use it seems and i havent really messed too much with the other 2 that came with mandrake. defintely want a gui based program. thanx for any help.

Gcombust will. So will just regular cdrecord (which is what xcdroast, gcombust, and gnome toaster use).
dd if=/cdrom_drive | cdrecord -v dev=x,x,x speed=y -data -
should work I think. If not then
mkisofs -r /cdrom_directory | cdrecord -v dev=x,x,x speed=y -data -
Good luck

I guess you don't want to hear "I told you so", do you?
That's the reason I asked you if you were sure you wanted both drives listed in XCDRoast. Even if 2 are listed, as far as I know, you cannot do a direct copy between them.
Commandline should work though as scanez suggested.

Remember this from our emails?
Both my pc's*at work and at home have dvd's and cdrw's and having the dvd available*within xcdroast does not really help do anything. I've yet to see the
option to directly copy from dvd to cdrw. I've tried to copy a cd with the*dvd drive as input and cdrw as output, but it just make a image file from*the dvd to the hd and then the next step is to copy the hd image to the*cdrw. It doesn't work directly.
Direct copying from disc to disc isn't realy the best way to do thing anyways. Its much better to copy to disk and then disc (less of a chance of problems). The extra time is MAYBE a couple minutes and isn't really a factor (atleast for me its not).

i gotcha Logon...........i just wanted to get both cdroms in there and learn regardless.
i read on this board somewhere that gnome-toaster does cd to cd. then again, i dont know who said it, where and when. and its probably not accurate.

On a older version of XCDRoast I used with eDesktop 2.4, I seem to remember that it had cd to cd though it was use at your own risk. I never did try it as I would have had to enable scsi emulation for my dvd and not just the cdrw.
Now that I have OpenLinux Workstation 3.1, scsi emulation is enabled for all non hd ide devices, but the version of XCDRoast included, does not have that option anymore.
Go figure.
You could try others such as Koncd.
