When i got to copy a file/ folder from cd to usr/local/games/halflife/hlds_l it says cant write to that file... then gives me the options to skip, skip all, or cancel.. What is this.. and anyway to fix?

Maybe it's the permissions settings or do you have root privileges? Post back and maybe we can work this out. chimaybleue 03-07-2001, 05:17 AM You have to copy your disk as root, or you have to modify the permissions for the target directory (with chmod, logged as root, type man chmod to learn more about chmod) dukeman 03-07-2001, 08:58 PM i am logged in as root.. its copying from the cdrom to the halflife dir.. it was directory i was trying to copy. it only gave the error when it went to copy a couple of the files..... OMG i think i figured it out.. LOL thanks all justlinux.com
