I have burned some DVD-Rs with a DVD burner yet I can't read them with any drive other than the DVD burner. Is this because the DVD ROM drives I have tried are not set up to read DVD-Rs or is it a problem with the burner? I guess what I'm asking is if not specified, will a regular everyday DVD ROM drive read DVD-R disks or do I have to get a drive that specifically says it reads DVD-R disks? I thought it would work like CD drives and players where any CD-R can be read by any regular CD drive but perhaps it doesn't.
Also, is there anything special that has to be done to make a DVD drive in Linux read video DVDs and data DVDs. I haven't tried installing a DVD drive into a Linux box but at some point I'd like to do so. WIll the same line in the fstab file that is used for CD drives work for DVD drives as well?
Thanks.
