Greetings,
Just a newbie trying to get internet working for the first time in Linux (Vector Linux 3.0 to be precise - I've posted this question at their forum, but it is probably a generic problem I think...)
I managed to get my PCMCIA ethernet card recognised over the weekend, and eventually got an IP address from my ISP's DHCP server (I've got 8Mbps ADSL) using dhclient.
However, the /etc/resolv.conf file contains no information after running dhclient. I'm happy to manually fill in the primary and secondary DNS server IP addresses for now, but I'm not sure how I can find this information since the DHCP configuration doesn't seem to be working quite right.
I have a (very stable, secure :D) Windows XP machine as well, and the DHCP configuration works fine on that, I can surf the net normally.
1) Is it possible to determine the DNS server addresses using some command line instruction in Windows XP?
2) Is it possible that dhclient can be configured so that the DNS information can be retrieved correctly?
Thanks for any tips!
