I'm attempting to install Mandrake 9.0 on my primary slave hard drive. I'm running Win2k Pro on the master and the slave is currently a FAT 32 partition(Master is NTFS). I'm not sure what options to pick on the partion area of the setup. I don't want to accidently lose all my data on my Win2k drive. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

My System:

Athlon XP 2000+
512 MB PC2700 DDR
128 MB ATI Radeon 8500
HD1(NTFS) 80 GB Western Digital
HD2(FAT32) 13 GB Western Digital

Oh, I have nothing to lose on 13 gig. I just want to get Mandrake, or any other distribution working. Once again thanks for your help!

You will of course need to delete the fat32 partition on the primary/slave drive first unless you have enough free space on the drive to create the required Linux partitions.

Start the Mandrake install and select 'Expert Mode' as that will give you greater control over the installation process and also allow you to delete existing partitions and create the Linux.

The primary/slave drive will be hdb.

Yeah, I was using the normal setup. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't screw over my NTFS drive accidently. It would be very bad to lose all my data. = P

As long as you don't touch the partitions on the primary master drive you are fine. Only use the slave/hdb drive. And when you have your partitions ready and it asks to format your partitions make sure they are only the linux partitions. No problem.
