I have just finished a Dual Boot system with Windows 2000 Pro installed on Primary Master and Red Hat 8 installed on Primary Slave. I have everything working perfectly except for the modem on Red Hat. The modem is recognized under Windows 2000 as "56K_PCI_Modem_SF-1156IV-R9A" and I have searched the forums for answers and to no avail. Can someone help me set up my modem? Thanks, Jeremy

I don't think it will work with Linux...

It could be that it's just a win modem that Gateway rebrands and there is a Linux driver available under different branding... But I doubt it is worth the hassle.

Did you buy the computer from an OEM? if so there is a 99.9% chance that it's a winmodem... which won't work under Linux... unless of course someone was able to get enough info to write a driver for it, check out Linmodems.org (http://www.linmodems.org) and that can be a LARGE pain, I turned my box to Linux, and I've got everything working except the stupid winmodem...
