I just configured my gateway for my home lan. I have a cable connection and my lan consists of a Mandrake server, a Win2000 laptop, a Win98/Linux game rig and a Win98 rig for my wife.

My concern is that to be able to see the net from the other machines, I have to enter dsn information into the client machines.

Will this setup get me in trouble with Videotron? I just want to occasionnaly browse the net from another computer or connect to work through a VPN conection. Can they tell how many machines are connected to my server?

Thanks for your thought and any suggestions :D

Shouldn't be a problem at all, since only one machine (the one with the cable modem) is connected to their service. And, you aren't reselling it or anything like that.

You wouldn't be the shaithis from planetquake would you?

I'm only using the server to share internet at home so I'm not looking to make a buck.

No, I'm the original one :D, I think he's been using that handle since 97-98, I've had mine since '94-95.

If I join a game developer chat on irc I get a "hey good chatting with you again" or "you from gamespy?", but it doesn't bother me too much :)
