Hy you guys!

I was wondering how you would approach this task. What is the best way to connect 2 Lans (both with a permanent broadbandconnection to the web) with each other?

One way would be to let the W2k clients log on to the "mother" firewall over a VPN.

But, what would you do?

best regards
Klaus

you would go best if you choose 1 gateway for each LAN you want
to connect.

when a client from one of your lans makes a call to another lan the
gateways should make the rest of the work.

can give out more informations like 'the purpose of this lan'?
filesharing
remote control
etc. i guess you can think of more ways

cu

an entry in the /etc/hosts file should make the other lans easier to access.

Well, the connection has to be secure. It's purpose is mostly user authentication (not yet implemented) and file sharing.

We already have the lines up and running. We do not want to order a third line which would connect the 2 LANs cos it would be too expensive.

I was thinking of installing one W2k machine which connects to LAN1 with a VPN connection. Connecting to the Samba shares at HQ. Then all the clients could connect to the W2k machine in their own LAN and use the shares, right?

mmhhh....come to think of it, can one share a share?
