CANNOT get to a GUI (Nvidia Ti4200)

I have an AMD 900M on a IWill K266 with 512M ram and an nVidia Ti-4200 8X AGP with 128M ram. Installed Mandrake 9 twice first default second expert (I'm not!). CANNOT get to a GUI. Boots to command line and I can log in and do XFdrake. OS never sees video card. Good video but no GUI. Do I need to install nVidia drivers? If so how? Assume I know nothing because I don't!

Sounds like you need to get the nvidia drivers.

Go to the Nvidia site, choose your video card, and linux drivers, then follow instructions. There is a large readme on the site that explains exactly how to do the install... you just need to look through it to find the parts that apply to your driver.
