sound card prob...

hey, i'm having difficulty getting my sound card to work, and i fear that it's incompatible. it's a soundblaster16 (if i'm right, and i believe i am). i don't remember how to get back to where the error messages are, but i do remember that one of them said : "device doesn't exit", and probs with /root/drivers/somethingsomething (i'm a REAL newbie). can anyone help me out, cuz sound really does help me out in getting away from windows. thanks

For future reference, you generally wanna add what Distro you're runnin.... Mandrake 8.1, to be exact
