setting up redhat 7 with a cable modem (@home) using dhcp. It's wierd, but when I unsuccessfully try to open a URL, it's almost like linux *gasp* crashes on me. NOTHING will open after that. No terminals, no appelets, no games, NOTHING! Anyone else have this prollem? My system just sits there idle. Oh yeah, ping, traceroute, and modprobe all give 'unknown command' messages. Anyone?

you mean like an invalid url, example www.foo.cmo (http://www.foo.cmo) ?

Especially with a TLD (top-level domain, not TheLinuxDuck) like cmo http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Did you set your nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf? No matter what I did, I couldn't get DHCP to set that up.

no, i tried to open linuxnewbie.org, and it gave a network error (can't get cable modem to work), and then everything after that error happened didn't work! BLAH!
Anyhoo, I am reinstalling redhat7 right now, to rule out a bad install. Anyone have any tips on getting redhat 7 to work w/ cable modem? No commands work such as modprobe and dhcpcd -v cx23904842394423-a or anything like that.. just gives a bash:unknown command error.
oh yeah, I was root when I tried those commands.
