Congratulations, and I wish you a speedy recovery. Try and milk it for as much as you can! Popsicles, ice cream, blankies on the couch with Blockbuster rentals, I do that every time I stub my toe... :)

My neighbors just had twins (boy and girl) and the boy has a cleft lip (palate?) so bad that he will probably have surgery in a few months. Seems like its more common than most people think. Anyway - best wishes for a speedy recovery.

That sucks for your neighbors kid. Yeah it is pretty common. Luckily mine didnt go all the way in my mouth. My lip was the only thing "split" when i was born. I had a surgery when i was about 2 and the docs said i would need one later on in life and this was it. Glad i got it out of the way. I get quesy just thinking about this kind of stuff. I wish your nieghbors' kids the best luck and thank you.

You should have seen how nervous i was before i was wheeled in to the operating room. I was shaking. Then the nurse put some leg warmers to keep the blood flowing. After that another nurse came and poked me w/ the ivy needle. Then after about 15 minutes the Anesthialogist(sp) came in and saw how nervous i was so he gave me a shot which he called a Martini. After the ivy is in every other shot goes through the little tube attachment...thank God.

Then the doc came and i had to sign a 6 more papers which i didnt even read. :D

Then some more waiting. After that i was wheeled in to the Operating room w/ the big lights above me..scary thought.

I was lying down when i felt the anestetic flow into my blood stream and i was out cold in about 45 seconds. Next thing I know im awake and a nurse has a guaze covered icepak on my lip. Still sleepy i can see the doc in the back round and he smiles at me. Then i go back to sleep. The operation took about 2hours. Total time 4hours. Thats including waking up and waiting. I got to go home after i was fully awake. The First night is hell. I was instructed not to eat anything fromt he night before the surgery so that whole day i didnt eat a think. I had a headache the size of texas. My bro got me some Gatorade and that helped w/ a blockbuster film. I rented "Like Mike" ...ya i know. Wont make that mistake again. The next day i rented Changing Lanes. Interesting movie. Now all i eat is chicken broth and twinkies split up into small cubes. :D And apple sauce.

blankies on the couch with Blockbuster rentals

sounds like me for sure.

Well thats my story.
