Redhat on Vaio

First of all I'm a total newbie to Linux, but want to learn so the best way should be to play with it. Only problem is I need a viable OS, I've installed Redhat 7.2 on my Vaio (PCGFX203), nothing worked, couldn't find drivers for anything, is it worth trying 8.1, I've been told the auto detect is a lot better, although I've also been advised I may have problems getting it running on the vaio

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Give linux-laptop.net (http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/sony.html) a go. If you can't see the same model as what you have, you'll probably still be able to scrape some information out of a similar models pages :)
