Does anyone here use Linux with their palm pilot? I am curious as to the degree of support that has been ported to Linux (Hotsyncing, syncronizing with StarOffice, etc...).

Thanks

AFAIK it's got pretty good support. I think you can hotsync into StarOffice. Also check out JPilot, which is a prog designed to put all your Palm stuff on. Plus GNOME and KDE have their own Pilot stuff. And I read somewhere that you can even set it up to use your Pilot as a terminal. Cool, huh?

My handspring visor works great in linux. I never synced with StarOffice though...I always use Jpilot. Nice little program.

Of course, you probably can't expect the automatic "press the button on the cradle and the hotsync starts automaticly" thing in linux, at least not yet ;)

Theres a few howtos laying around to assist you with this as well.

How to detect that there is a Visor connected in the machine? I have a handspring visor also, but my Linux Mandrake seems can't detect the device.
Please help :-)
Thanks

I have a Palm IIIc and I connect with Jpilot, damn good program,
I just install Jpilot then I had to change the port but that was minor, I think it sym-links to /dev/pilot.

The you just hit sync Jpilot then on the Palm and Viola! Done.
