I have a 20gig hd with win 2000 on 10 gigs and Redhat 7.0 on the other half. LILO is not reconized at all and auto boots into Win 2000 everytime (w/o a boot disk for linux). Is this problem from the hd size?? Is there a way to add the linux option to LILO?
Thanks JPD

if the windows 10gig is the first partition, your linux partition is above the 1024 cylinder limit mark. you cannot install lilo successfully from there.
what you can do is to install grub or create a /boot partition below the 1024 cylinder limit.

There's another problem :
NT (3.51, 4) and W2k are totally uncompatible with LILO.
To Get DUAL boot you may :
- install first linux then W2K and hopefully you will be proposed to install a dual boot.
- install W2K and linux (in any order) and set LILO into the MBR of your linux PARTITION
(not on the disk MBR) and :
make a boot floppy from another linux machine
or install PQ Boot Magic

The only compatibility problems that I've had between lilo and Windows 2000 is when I've tried to install Red Hat 6.2 and 7.0 after installing Win2k. This has happened on my 40GB hard drive. What's strange is when I install Mandrake 7.2 after Win2k, everything works fine. I'm able to add Windows 2000 (NTFS) to lilo and it works fine. Very confusing.......
