I'm on a dial-up connection so it's not practical for me to download ISOs, and the only Debian CDs I can find seem to be Potato, which still uses XF86 3, Kernel 2.2 etc.

When is Woody due to go stable?

So install potato, and upgrade to woody with APT. It's really rather nice actually, assuming you are familiar with how APT works and what it does.

But, Woody is "expected" to be released officially some time around Christmas, though I'm betting it'll be closer to Valentine's Day :)

I'm on a cable modem (using a very fast and nearby, only 100 miles or so, server is it worth it to get the potato ISOs now or should I just do the FTP install of Woody?

I think you missed my point Strike - I'm on dial-up connection and so can't spend forever downloading updates.

I'll stick with SuSE until Christmas (unless something else comes along in the meantime, but I'm trying to save cash to build a new system).

I asked this before and everyone seemed to think there were none nor can I find any but since this thread is already at the top I'll ask again.

Does anyone know where to get woody iso's? I know I can use potato and upgrade it but I'd rather have some woody iso's. Just seems like a huge waste of bandwith installing an os twice for every system I put it on.

There aren't any official woody ISOs, because it isn't an official release yet. You can check here (http://www.debian.org/distrib/vendors) for vendors in your area that might sell a custom release. There are also Woody FTP install disks out there as well, I believe.

And danrees, no I didn't miss the point, I simply told you of the only OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED way of getting Woody at this point. Any other method of getting to Woody is unofficial and may or may not work, your mileage may vary.
