find more info about a PID

how do i find out mor einformation about a PID?

i am monitoring them on my server and noticing many that are taking over 13 minutes but all under 14 to complete and all running as PIDs 5811-5825.

is there anyway to knwo why or how these are running?

a really nice GUI that shows them as a tree (so what process started each one) is called treeps.

- in true spirit of this site, i am a newbie and dont want to mess up our companies server. much of our business is doen through the site. i will read the instructions fully and see what i come up with.

is there a command i can issue to view it for now though?
