i am on a quest to learn every aspect of linux which means stripping down my install just a little each time i reformat (learning purposes only). so now i am at the point where i am diddling with fstab. also i run a winxp fs on my home net that was broke for about 2-3 wks. well i got it back up and realized that i need to reconnect so i can get some of my stuff back without using the sneakernet. i was using webmin as an interface when i started but in my learning stages i have gone beyond that and then i found something that came with kde that i used to reconnect before. on this install i get rid of kde and gnome so now i am having to do a lot the hard way (the only way to learn). then i ran across this thread:
Connecting to shared files on a winbloze network (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72217&highlight=automount+samba) started by ChadNPiper2. i read thru and found the reply by saithan and got what i needed. now when my kids help daddy and shutoff the computer (damn i hate that. they are 5 and 3yrs) i don't have to worry about reconnecting. fstab does it for me. i would like to say thanks to saithan and to all of LNO for all of the help. And i would also like to say sorry for the long post but be thankful i didn't go thru my whole linux story (about 6 months now)
