I'm looking for something I can run from the console (no X on this machine) that will show realtime statistics on my network interfaces. The machine is running SmoothWall and I'd like to have a monitor so I can see what's going on with the connections. Something simple like bytes/sec in and out would be ok, but the more statistics it could show me the better

Searching the Internet has proven a wild goose chase to find something like this...plenty for X but nothing console based

thanks!

here you go: http://freshmeat.net/projects/ntop/?topic_id=152

interactive mode works in CLI. in web mode it runs as a mini web server.

this one is apparently good as well: http://freshmeat.net/projects/iptraf/?topic_id=152
