Help!! :(
I am looking for a web cam that I can use and is fully supported. My old PC Cam 300 by Creative Labs does not seem to be, but then maybe I am looking at the wrong stuff. I am running Red Hat 8... on a AMD 1000 with 640 MB ram, 20 GB HD, ATI Radeon VE graphics and more.
Can any one help me? I would appreciate all the help I can get.

I also have other hardware I am having trouble with, but then Linux has a high learning curve and I have only really been operating a Linux system for less than a month, this time and much has changed but somethings do not seem to.

Thanks for the help on the Cam.

To begin with, there's a possible driver for your Creative PC Cam 300 at [http://sourceforge.net/projects/spca50x/], which I found listed on the "Linux OVCam Drivers" page at [http://alpha.dyndns.org/ov511/] where one can find drivers for a great many different webcams.

This page at [http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/] also a nice smattering of webcams to choose from. You might particularly want to check out the "Which camera should you buy?" part of the FAQ at [http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/which.html] which has a nice feature-for-feature comparison.

There's also the CPiA webcam driver [ http://webcam.sourceforge.net/] which is part of the Video4Linux framework and supports yet more cheap webcams.

What's the other hardware you're having trouble with? Post, and most likely we can help. :)

Would anyone know if an intel cs331 webcam will work in RH 8.0? Intel doesn't have anything but Micro$oft drivers available. Or a place where I might look for drivers?

I got my intell cs330 running using the SPCA50x drivers from sourceforge.

if you check the spca50x development page there is a list of cams that will run on that driver.
