Thanks knavely 01-30-2001, 03:38 AM i just did this a little while ago but im a real newbie so i can just tell you what i did http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/redface.gif if you havent installed your hard drive already that is the first step, if you need help with that you can find some good information on the web pretty easily..basicly you just decide where to put it, weather it will be your primary slave, secondary primary or secondary slave. Then you adjust the jumpers accordingly, and plug the thing in to the right slot, and then reboot and make sure your bios detect it. At this point it doess matter which distro your going to instal, the intalation with mandrake 7.2 is very easy boot up with the linux boot disk, and when it comes time to partitioning your drive choose diskdrake(the advanced option) then you will have the option of installing on hda(your old hd) or hdb,c or d depending on which slot your new one is in. This is the drive you choose, then you can either choose your own partition sizes or choose auto alocate and it will do that for you, and thats that. Once its installed the next time you reboot you will have the option of booting to windows or linux. I think Red Hat would be just as easie, but im not so sure about those others. cotfessi 01-30-2001, 08:17 AM there is a NHF in the NHF section... look there first teeitup 01-30-2001, 12:45 PM Adding a Hard drive in Linux--In five steps http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/hd_add.html justlinux.com
