is an infamous "WinModem"?
is there like a list for those creeps?
i'm using a rather "El cheapo" brand one.. its called "Ambient HaM DataFax Modem"...

If it's an internal PCI modem then most likely it's a winmodem. All is not lost though, you can head on over to linmodems.org and see if there's a driver for it.

Welp, i checked, and ambient got gulped by intel.. i found my modem's chipset, but they only provide drivers for windows.. does this mean im pretty much screwed?

The end of chapter two has a link to a site which lists linux/modem compatibility.
Sadly, I found this site AFTER I bought a modem, and guess what.........yup, it's not supported.
