Hi,
I have looked on the forum and have not found the answer. I downloaded Red Hat 8.0 and burned the ISO images. When I boot up with the discs I get to the prompt. I push enter and it asks what language and what keyboard I have. After that it asks what I'm using to install Linux. I choose CD-ROM and it then says there is no Linux CD in the drive. I can't open the drive when it says that and i have to give the computer the old three finger salute. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this.

Could you please tell us a little bit about your hardware specs? IDE cdrom? SCSI cdrom? Desktop/Laptop? etc. etc...

If IDE cdrom, is it on primary/slave or ??

It is a ATAPI IDE cd-rom on a desktop computer. It is also the on the primary cable and is the slave.

How do I check the ISO with the MD5?

Did the install program give you the option to Verify the install media? My iso's did, just curious.......

Yes, I think the command was linux checkmedia. I tried that and it didnt do anything differently.

Excludinng the obvious, have you tried burning another copy of the iso? Maybe the disk has a scratch or is dirty..

I am re-downloading the first ISO file. I will burn it again and try it out. If it does the same thing I will post it here.

Yea, silly me! It was either a bad disc or bad ISO image. I redownloaded and reburned and got it to install fine.
