Hi after reading a little, I decided to download mandrake 8 from an ftp server. I went to the download page and saw that you could download a burnable iso. but whenever i went to browse the ftp server i saw that there were 2 iso images for download. one was Mandrake80-inst.iso, and the other was Mandrake80-ext.iso. I was just wondering if anyone knew which one that i should download. The readme file didn't give any hints so what i'm thinking is that the "inst" one is the install disc and the "ext" one is the extras disc, or something. I have no idea if the distribution even comes in 2 cds or not.

Does anyone know which one i should download? Or if i should download both of them. For now i guess i'll just start downloading Mandrake80-inst.iso.

oh and in case any of you want to check it out, go here

The first iso is the main installation disc while the ext disc is the extensions disc. The extensions disc contains a lot of useful apps but it is not neccesary to download.

Thanks alot. I think i may also download the extensions disc so that I can have the whole distribution (software-wise anyway).

yeah, get both. You will be sorry if you happened to select something in the install thats on disk 2.

I won't worry too much about not having the ext disc on install, as it will prompt you if you have it or not. If you don't then it won't list apps that you don't have.

Better off getting it though When I was using 7.? all the C++ libs were on the 2nd disc :(
