I am VERY new to linux and I know nothing about it but I hope someone can help me out. I have downloaded Mandrake 7.2 Several times and from several FTP addresses and I have sucessfully made my ISO CD's. Now when I reboot my system it trys to install and it looks like it is going to work but it gets to a screen that eventually says Initalizing CDROM. then I get an error that says "Mount Failed: Invalid Argument. Then I click OK. And then it says "Error Mounting Ramdisk. This should not happen, and I am rebooting your system now. Then I click ok and I have to reboot my system. Can someone please try to help me or tell me if there is a patch that I need to download. Thanks

Ok if that doesn't work:
If you have a windows system handy, insert the first CD into the drive and it will bring up a dialog relating to Linux Mandrake. There will be an option to make a boot disk. Click ok at the next screen and the utility rawwrite will appear. Choose the read tab and click the browse button and go to the drive letter of your CD-ROM and go into the iamges folder. Then choose crom.* (Can't remember the extension)

See how that goes.

Good Luck!

I had the same exact error...this is what I did and I hope it helps you. Instead of using LBA , in your bios, go to Hard drive detection and select normal. Then when you install , do recommended, then minimal, but when asked for the partition part, use disdrake, from disdrake select clear all, then auto allocate, then ok, then continue to install from there, if it crashes, which mine does, try it again, this TIME SELECT UPDATE, selecting recommended install, minimal...hope it helps.
