I'm a fairly recent newbie, installed SuSE 8.1 with samba and created my own PDC for windows. About the same time samba kicked in, i have not been able to login as root. I get the message in the subject. I can login as another user and even use su in a terminal window the root password works there. But some of us need that GUI. I can open yast2 and the root password works there when prompted. Is this happening because of my setup as a PDC?
Other than this little issue the server is working great, but i'm not done configuring and i need root to finish.
Any help would be appreciated!

 That's basic security and should not be bypassed.

I still need to configure some services(DHCP) that it seems I can only edit under root. What would be the best way to do so?

Log in, su, and start up the GUI config tool from the root shell...
