I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 7.1 and I get no further then the boot disk. Everything seems to load fine, and I even get past it asking me what country I am in and the type of keyboard I have, and then where the installation files are stored, either CD or hard drive. I am installing from a CD, from a .iso image I downloaded from redhat.com. But immediately afterwards I get this error message and then it unloads everything and tells me it is safe to reboot my system.

This might be an obvious problem, but I am new to linux, but Im anxious to learn. Mainly b/c I am tired of Microsoft! Can I get some help about this error?

Sounds like you might have downloaded a bad .iso, or it burned badly. I'd recommend redownloading it, and using a download resume program like gozilla for windows. alternately, you can find redhat 7.1 in your local software store for around $30. It comes with 30 days of software support as well, so you can get telephone help to get off on the right foot.

A few other people have reported that error when installing RH 7.x off d/l'd ISOs, but I haven't seen a definitive cause for it.Could be a bad burn or a corrupted download. Try the burn again and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks for the help! I will give it another try. As for a bad download, or using a download program like GoZilla, I am on a high speed connection, so it doesn't take long for me to download the .iso, and there isn't much chance of getting disconnected. And purchasing it is the last option, since it is available free. I will burn the iso again and give it another shot...thanks again!!
