Can't boot from Cd Rom

I just built a new system. It has an Abit KA7
Mobo and an Athlon 950 Slot A processor.
I tried to boot from the Cd Rom to do a Storm Linux install and it goes right to either a floppy boot or HDD boot.
I tried with a few CD's that I have booted from in the past on my other system.
I go into the bios and change the 1st boot
option to Cd rom but it still wont boot from anything but the floppy or HD.
Any suggestions?

did you watch the screen really close during boot?

some systems put up a line like "hit a key to boot from the cd" and only wait 3-4 secs and if you miss it they go to the next boot device
