I keep having the same problem with the iso's from stormix. I d/l them, fire up cdrecord with:

cdrecord speed=8 dev=0,1,0 hail-blah.iso

but it never comes out bootable. I've burnt many other iso's this way and I could boot with no problem. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a fix for this. Thanks.

perhaps the .iso was corrupted during download?

try re-downloading from another site?

Ive had a similar problem. When you finish burning are you just left with a file on your new cd that cant be booted? thats what happened to me. Youve got to burn the file as an image, not as a copy. what os are you burning from? If windows, then try Nero, its very powerful and will do what you want. All you do is goto file/burn image.

As stated above, it couldve been a bad download. But see if you can burn it as an image first. there are a couple of ways to tell
1) if when you open your cd rom with new cd in and just see the same file that you burned, then it isnt an image
2)if when you open your new cd and the cdrom keeps working but never opening then it is not an image
neither 1 or 2 can be booted

hope that helps http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
