AC97 Audio Controller in RedHat

I have a Red Hat 7.3 installed, an EPOX-8kha with built-in sound (ac97, VT8233). I have downloaded alsa sound driver and succesfully configured the all the drivers as well as the utilities.

One modification i did was rename "linux2.4.18-3" folder located in /usr/src to "linux",

But when i am about to modprobe im getting an error saying that init_module no such device.

Please help me :(

Having PnP OS enabled in the bios can cause pci devices to not be detected or configured correctly.

Disable PnP OS in the bios and see if that helps.
