help with nic??

I just installed Mandrake 7.2, the nic is a smc1211 series. At startup its not locating eth0, I used netconf to setup routing and such. I have the disk that came with the nic but I don't know how to install the drivers from the disk. hehe http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/frown.gif

Check all your available mods and find the smc ones. insmod it. Then ifconfig yourself a eth0. After that, do a
route add default eth0
see if that works, if so you can add the commands to a startup script.

AFAIK this card has a rtl8139 chipset so if you have the module compiled try a modprobe rtl8139
